Terms of online ordering
How ordering from the shop on Dynevor Street works, what you can expect from us, and what we ask of you.
Last updated: 22 July 2026.
These are the terms for ordering from La Bocata on this website. Placing an order means you accept them. Nothing here takes away your legal rights as a consumer.
Who you are ordering from
La Bocata, 16 Dynevor Street, Merthyr Tydfil, CF48 1AY. Phone 07824 390914. Open Monday to Saturday, 9am to 3.30pm. Closed Sunday.
Placing an order
- The menu on this site is an invitation to order, not an offer we are bound by.
- When you place an order you are making an offer to buy those items.
- The confirmation on screen means we have received your order. It is not us accepting it yet.
- The contract is made when we accept your order, which is when we start making it or when we contact you to say it is on.
When we may say no
We can refuse or cancel an order, and we will tell you why. The usual reasons are:
- something has run out;
- the counter is too busy to hit the time you picked;
- we cannot reach you on the number you gave;
- the order looks like a hoax or a fraud;
- we cannot safely do what an allergy request asks for.
If you have already paid and we cannot make your order, you get all of it back.
Collection times are an estimate
Orders placed on this website are for collection from 16 Dynevor Street, Merthyr Tydfil. Everything is made to order once you have ordered, so the time shown when you order is our honest estimate, not a guarantee. Lunchtime is the busiest hour of the day and it can run over.
Come in around the time you picked, because food that has been made fresh is at its best straight away. If you are going to be late, or you cannot get here at all, ring 07824 390914 and tell us.
Allergies and what is in the food
Tell us about any allergy or intolerance before you order, on the phone or in the shop, and we will talk it through with you properly.
- Everything is made to order in one small kitchen, where ingredients are prepared side by side. We cannot promise that any item is completely free of a particular allergen.
- The notes box on an order is good for preferences, for example something you want left out. Please do not rely on it on its own for a serious allergy. Ring us instead.
- Menu descriptions list the main ingredients. If you need more detail than that, ask and we will check.
Prices
- The price shown on this site when you place your order is the price you pay for that order.
- Prices are in pounds sterling and can change. We update the site when they do.
- We check the menu carefully, but if a price here is obviously wrong we will tell you before we accept the order. You can then confirm at the right price or cancel and have anything you have paid returned.
- A few things, such as the savouries, are pre-order only and are marked that way on the menu.
Paying
Orders are paid for by card at the time you place them. Payment is taken by Stripe, a regulated payment provider, on Stripe's own secure page. Your order is only confirmed once that payment has gone through. If it does not, no order is placed and nothing is charged.
Changing or cancelling
- Because the food is made fresh to your order, the 14 day cancellation right that covers most things bought online does not apply to it.
- If you change your mind, ring 07824 390914 as soon as you can. If we have not started making it, we will cancel it and return anything you have paid.
- Once it is being made we may not be able to cancel it.
- Any refund goes back the same way you paid, usually within a few working days.
If something is not right
Tell us the same day, on the phone or in the shop, and we will remake it or refund it. That is on top of your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, which we are not trying to limit.
The website itself
We try to keep this site up and accurate, but it may be unavailable now and then, for maintenance or for reasons outside our control. The photographs are of real food from this shop. Yours is made fresh to order, so it will not be an exact copy of a photograph.
Our responsibility to you
Nothing in these terms limits our responsibility for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law does not allow us to limit. Beyond that, we are responsible for loss that is a foreseeable result of us breaking these terms, and not for loss that was not foreseeable.
Your details
What we do with the details you give us when you order is set out in our privacy notice.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The version on the site at the time you order is the one that applies to that order, so the date at the top is the one that matters.
Which law applies
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and any dispute can be brought in the courts of England and Wales.
